Having had quite the success abroad, The Asteroids Galaxy Tour's SPOT début was highly anticipated.

It was a packed Ridehuset that welcome the band on stage – a band that seemed visibly happy to be playing SPOT.

However, having great success abroad does not mean that a Danish crowd will instantly fall at your feet. This meant that it took some time and work from the band to get the crowd on their feet.

Fortunately for The Asteroids Galaxy Tour, they have Mette Lindberg in front. She was sweet and charming as usual, working the crowd and slowly winning them over – even throwing a “we're happy to be playing in Denmark” in the mix (that is almost always a crowd pleaser.)

The band's hard work finally paid off, when they played the hit single “Around The Bend” -  and finally, after having witness a pretty mellow crowd, it was nice to notice a bit of movement.

After the show I managed to catch up with Mette Lindberg and Lars Iversen from The Asteroids Galaxy Tour to a talk a bit about their upcoming album, playing in Denmark, having songs in American TV shows and choosing to not to sign with a major label.

- We're still working out distribution deals for USA and Australia. Because we haven't got a fixed set-up it's taking longer than it could have, says Lars about their début album “Fruit”, which is set for worldwide release in September.

He and Mette are still sticking to their own Small Giants label, having refused numerous record deals from both national and international companies.

- We want decide for ourselves what happens to our music, says Lars, while Mette continues,
- release dates are really for the press. It's just a date. Our music is already out there.

When asked about how it is to play in Denmark again, and to play the SPOT Festival after they had to cancel last year, they both agree that it is really great, but that they would have liked to have played at a later time – although still happy just to be playing.

The Asteroids Galaxy Tour have toured both Europe and the US excessively this Spring – the last time they played in Denmark was before Christmas.

Germany, France, the UK and the US have all treated the band very well. In the US many of their songs have been used in TV shows and commercials. The fact that “Around The Bend” was featured in a iPod commercial boosted iTunes sales for the band – and after they had had three songs featured in the TV-show Gossip Girl, the song “Hero” has, according to Mette and Lars, reached a certain cult status with some of the show's fans.

So, yeah, the future is looking bright for The Asteroids Galaxy Tour – before releasing “Fruit” in September, they will join Katy Perry on her UK tour, all the while playing gigs all across Europe over the Summer.
