Mathias Larsen (Copenhagen) and Mikkel Jakobsen (Aarhus) are attending the festival for the fourth year in a row. I asked them about their reason for choosing to come too the festival, the shows they where looking forward to hear, and why they keep returning.

Mathias: Spot festival is great, the size makes it very easy for us too explore new music. Lot’s of our friends are here, and I like that they haven’t got stages all over the city this year. It makes it easier for us enjoy the concerts, without having to track around town.

Mikkel: Yes I agree! I am especially looking forward to hearing Mike Sheridan, The William Blake’s, Den sorte Skole and, and, and. Yes there are loads of music I am looking forward to hear.

I asked them whom they thought had the most international potential, and they both unanimously agreed that it was Mike Sheridan the 17-year-old electronic artist. Who perfomed in the grand hall last night!

Mathias: One of the things that have surprised me, baffles me is why a name like Tim Christensen is performing. One of the reasons why I like the festival is because it’s for Upcoming bands or bands waiting to get a real break. Having an accomplished artist like Tim Christensen in a sense ruins the idea, that it’s a festival for newcomers, and my opinion is that the big names don’t belong here.

Mikkel & Mathias: A good example is the Danish band Balstyrko, that is compound of well known Danish artist, but the project is so new and different, that it fits in well with the concept. So even though a lot of bands have played here before, what matters is that they aren’t too commercial.

Overall they both agreed that the Spot was one of the year’s music highlights, and a very cosy and intimate festival
