| Yann Tiersen will perform at the venue Train on the SPOT opening night. | Yann Tiersen – the man behind the soundtracks for ”Amélie” and ”Good Bye Lenin” will perform at SPOT's opening night May 21st – a performance, which marks his first ever visit to a Nordic country. Joining him will be eight international acts, all ready to perform at different venues in Aarhus.
Without really knowing it, some of us might actually have Yann Tiersen's music at home - he is the mastermind behind the music for such films as ”Amélie” and ”Good Bye Lenin”. The music is quite easy to recognise, with its use of many different instruments, minimalistic compositions and an inspiration going back to classical music as well as French folk. In addition to playing on the opening night, Yann Tiersen will also be joining Orka (FO) for their gig at the festival. The two acts have previously played concerts together at Transmusicales in Rennes, where they performed six nights in a row!
Apart from the Yann Tiersen performance on the SPOT opening night, eight different international acts are also on the slate. Besides the international performances on the opening night, the SPOT Festival will also present an opening night event at The Concert Hall, Aarhus where modern music meets classical music performed by three different Danish acts. Information on this is soon to be released. The SPOT opening night acts: Train Yann Tiersen (FR) zZz - electronica meets punk and postpunk (NL) Minipli - experimental minimalisme (LX) Studenterhuset Absynthe Minded - indie, jazz and pop (BE) Yuko - indepop with electronic elements (BE) Cokiyu - the Japanese Björk (JP) Musikcafeen John Dear Mowing Club - alternative folk, country and pop (NL) Daedelus - twisted electronica (US) Bird - cello meets electronica and folk (UK)
