With an audience of over 4500 and industry types, and the likes, from 25 different countries, SPOT Festival 2009 has been a success.

On paper this all looks fine and dandy, but what did the international music bigwigs really think about SPOT, and the music they heard:

Forget Eurovision. SPOT Festival is the best advert for Scandiwegian music... Pity those Eurovision entries couldn't have taken some tips beforehand. This is a much more compelling advert for Scandinavian music.
Kieron Tyler, MOJO Magazine (UK)

You can now no longer plan on committing suicide before next year because then you won't be able to go to SPOT in 2010 and run crazy in that proper grown-up way the festival offers.

Put aside prejudices and check it out. Turns out there is more to Danish music than Barbie Girl...
Neil McCormick, The Daily Telegraph (UK)

Fortunately, they do not sound to disappointed: when international media and industry types visit Denmark they are happily surprised to experience that Danish music and culture embodies a certain quality. Judging by quotes and reports, this has also been the case for this year's festival.

Not only has SPOT Festival 2009 distinguished itself by having an audience of over 4500 – the international interest for the festival reached a high point this year, with 249 international industry types visiting.

The following reports from the festival should be a testament to the fact that SPOT has stirred much international attention:

"The best of the Danisfh fest..." - Clash Magazine
"SPOT Festival: not just big in Denmark" - The Daily Telegraph
"Great Danes: SPOT Festival 2009" - Drowned in Sound
"Fjord focus" - The Guardian

With the concerts over and done, it will now be interesting to see, which Danish and Nordic acts  will get the most out of their efforts. But one thing's for sure – the above mentioned articles and quotes are proof that people have been listening, exploring and writing about SPOT Festival outside of Denmark.

And now, we will leave you with another stack of quotes.

Our main lesson from this years SPOT is to run from show to show because we frequently heard from other attendants that we'd just missed something great.
Hans Vrijmoed, Alternative Blog (NL)

SPOT offers a relaxed festival setting where the venues are deliciously closely located to one another and on top of this the festival revealed a healthy dose of Danish bands with international potential.
Sven Schlijper, Kindamuzik (NL)

This two-day (but more like four-day) showcase of Danish music and choice international acts is like a musical Narnia: around every corner and behind every tent-flap an eye-opening new discovery awaits.
Simon Hawkins, Clash Magazine (UK)

SPOT is one of the greatest festivals I’ve ever been to!
