ADVANCED INTEREST IN SPOT ON DENMARK IN BRUSSELS

With over a 100 industry and media people already on the guest list, the SPOT on Denmark event in  Brussels hosted by MXD and ROSA, will take place Friday the 14th of November at the hip AB venue. 

On the night SlaraffenlandToneSaid The Shark and One-Eyed Mule will be on the slate. 

The impressive anticipation for the event is due to different factors: 
the four bands playing have been considered relevant for the Belgian market by the Belgian delegation who visited this years SPOT festival
because the event is being held for the second year in a row, there is no starting from scratch and no introductions necessary. “On the contrary, it's going swimmingly this year” Christian Hald Buhl, MXD and ROSA's project manager in Brussels says.

The interest in advance can be seen on many different levels.

  • Studio Brussel – The Belgian equivalent of P3 will, on the 12th of November between 10 and 11 P.M, be broadcasting half an hour about Danish music, the SPOT festival and SPOT on Denmark (listen athttp://www.stubru.be/ (click on “Luister Live”)).
  • The French-language daily publication Le Soir (circulation: 100.000) and the weekly French VIF (circulation: 100.000) will both be bringing advanced publicity and previews.
  • Competitions can be found on three different webzines, http://www.cucamonga.be/,http://www.goddeau.com/ and http://www.soundslike.be/ (for those who speak Flemish, information can be found here)
  • And, Belgian filmmaker John Erbuers has created a 38 minute long movie called “Spotted on SPOT”. The movie portrays the Belgian delegations journey to this years SPOT festival. The movie, which will premiere on the night of the “SPOT on Denmark” event, will have performances by 20 SPOT festival bands. A sneak-preview can be seen here.  

Yes, it works
So, is the Danish promotion in Belgium useful? It was for the band Murder. The band, who was part of last years SPOT on Denmark event, has experienced a rise in popularity equivalent to that of the Danish market. This years participants have already been approached by record companies, booking firms and venues.
