John Dear Mowing Club presents a Dutch version of an otherwise American tradition of alternative folk. While the latest and eponymous album comes across as country noir straight from songwriter Melle de Boer's hometown Den Haag, the band is still first and foremost known as artistic soul mates of and backing band for the manic-depressive American songwriter Daniel Johnston, who has gradually acquired cult status.
